Norway’s Steve Røkland celebrated his victory at last week’s FST International Shootout by taking to the wheel of a Ford Fiesta S2000 alongside M-Sport Stobart Ford driver Matthew Wilson.
Wilson found himself in the co-driver’s seat as he offered advice to the FST Sweden champion who drove M-Sport’s award-winning car around a specially constructed rally stage at Carlisle airfield. The day finished with Wilson taking to the wheel of the Ford Fiesta S2000 to give Røkland a final spin around the course offering an insight into the level of driving that the 19-year-old is hoping to emulate.
Røkland gained the opportunity to spend the afternoon with 24-year-old Wilson as a result of winning this season’s Shootout which was held at M-Sport last week.
Fiesta SportTrophy Challenge winner Jack Rowe also took to the wheel of a Ford Fiesta S2000 alongside Wilson as part of his prize for winning the FSC UK Championship in his debut year.
Ireland’s Declan Leonard and Osian Pryce from Wales were both given tuition by Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team driver Jari-Matti Latvala as part of their prize for winning the FST Ireland and FST UK Championships.
Steve Røkland said: “I had a great day – to be taught by Matthew Wilson has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. Matthew’s car control is incredible and he makes driving the [Ford] Fiesta S2000 look easy.”
