Richard Burns Foundation’s website gets new look

The Richard Burns Foundation has launched its new-look website. Available at, the website includes the latest news from the charity, details of fundraising initiatives and how money can be donated, plus information on upcoming events.

The Richard Burns Foundation was established following the death of England’s first world rally champion from an astrocytoma, a virulent form of brain tumour, in November 2005.

Burns enjoyed substantial success in his career using Pirelli tyres (and Pirelli motorsport’s director Paul Hembry is a trustee), including his World Rally Championship triumph of 2001, when he was driving for the works Subaru team. He developed a fruitful working relationship with Hembery and the entire Pirelli Motorsport team both in the UK and Italy, which helped him to some of his biggest successes.

“Richard was a great driver but also a real friend,” said Hembery. “Not only that: he was a true fighter throughout his illness, who was always thinking of other people, even when he was very ill himself. The Richard Burns Foundation not only honours his memory but works tirelessly to raise funds for its beneficiary for 2014, the Chestnut Tree House, which is a hospice for children and young adults.”

Pirell’s association with the Richard Burns Foundation also extends to the annual Pirelli Richard Burns Foundation Rally, which takes place from 3 – 4 May in Cumbria and counts as a round of the Pirelli-supported British Rally Championship.
